  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a project manager on a large client facing programme. My dialy tasks include meetings with the customer, managing project deliverables, briefing internal staff members. I am also a career and staff manager to some new undergraduates so I am able to help them with any issues they come across and I am able to provide assistance where needed.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have adopted many new skills since being in CGI. I have gained vast knowledge in client relationships and also project management. I have been given the freedom to persue my own career plan and look to improve in various key skills. My project gives me excellent oppurtunities to work on presentation, communication and planning skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed the SDP at CGI as it gave the freedom to be able to gain a degree but also begin a professional career in a large organisation. I enjoyed being able to use what I learned at the University back in the workplace and vice versa what I was learning in the workplace allowed me to use ideas and experience to apply to my studies.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by CGI?
  • I beleive CGI value the student community and are on board with driving in house development and nurturing talent. The programme I work on have also taken on this idea and are driving development in key business areas for the junior members of staff so that we continue to develop once we have finished the SDP.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I beleive the programme is reasonably well structured. I found it be well organised and we were often briefed as soon as information was available. I beleive the programme would benefit from growing its team.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • The University of Winchester, in my opinion where very supportive to me and provided me with the help I needed. I found the lecturers to be very open and approachable and most had experience from working in industries which I found was very helpful.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • CGI have given me vast amounts of support during my time in the business. They have helped provide mentors and support arrangement to ensure I can keep developing in the business. They have also provided support to aid my dyslexia in the workplace. I beleive this has allowed me to excel in my role.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I beleive the Salary Package in CGI is reasonable considering you receive a degree in line with your salary. I beleive the costs that a young professional has is in line with the salary they receive.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • CGI provided a lot of support outside of work and encourages others to get involved. Examples such as the Princes Trust bike ride, the Million Makers are examples of this. I have myself taken part in things such as Byte Night and also the APM challenge which I found to be a good team building activitiy.

  • 9. Would you recommend CGI to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would reccomend CGI to a friend as I have found my experience in the company to be a positive one. I beleive the SDP keeps evolving year on year and it is attracting the right people for the company. I beleive a company such as CGI who is willing to offer a degree and competitve salary to a young professional to be strong sign of commitment to help people reach their career aspirations.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to CGI?
  • I would reccomend to others to make sure they have the hunger to progress and succeed on two fronts, the university side and the day to day job side. This hunger will help them push on make use of the support available in the company.
