  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a trainee client service advisor, i advise clients on their insurances and help with the day to day running and renewal of their insurance programmes.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a vast quantity of new skills. I have greatly increased my technical insurance knowledge, I am now more confident and I'm also more comfortable working in a team and creating new ideas for the team to consider.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My programme is extremely rewarding. The programme is hard work, however this hard work pays off with the rewards. Aon invest a lot of time and effort in training and the likes and its been greatly beneficial to myself and my chances of future career progression to undertake this programme. The programme is extremely enjoyable.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Aon?
  • Aon make you feel well valued. My colleagues are keen to assist my development and to find out how the programme is going. The company itself make me feel valued in that they are investing significantly in my future career with the training etc they are providing.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well structured, we are undertaking our day to day job roles at work and have an external training provider who assists with the professional studies part of the apprenticeship. We are aware from the beginning of the programme what is expected of us and how the programme will run for the 18 month duration.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Vast amounts of support. Once a month the training provider will take us through our professional studies and they are contactable at any time if we have any queries which is really reassuring.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Aon and my collegues provide me with vast amounts of support. They provide significant financial support, but are also there at any time should I have a query or require any clarification. My colleagues at work are also very supportive and have assisted me since my first day in the job, with getting to grips with whats required. This can also be said for my manager who has been very supportive throughout my apprenticeship.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary is adequate. Comparable to other apprenticeships the salary is very competitive and for the location (Newcastle) the salary is ok. The salary more than meets my costs.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Aon for their employees to assist with a charity, so there is always time allowed for fundraising and helping with a chosen charity. There are always social events and company events as this is a service industry which is nice, and everyone at work is made to feel part of the team and accepted at these events.

  • 9. Would you recommend Aon to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The apprenticeship and the opportunities which there are following the completion of the programme are seemingly endless. The company is keen to have apprentices and invests in apprentices similarly to what it does graduates. The company make you feel valued and they are continually supportive throughout the programme. The salary is competitive and there plenty of opportunities to socialise outside of work.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aon?
  • If you are applying for this position, the application process is very thorough and competitive. Make sure this is the chosen career for yourself and give it your all. This programme is very well regarded so if you do make on the programme, make sure you take every opportunity available to you. Be yourself and try hard, thats all the company is looking for.
