My role includes negotiating contracts/ trading agreements with all of our supplier base. Negotiating cost prices on products and managing profit and margin expectations. Conducting tenders to create cost savings within the business Managing supplier relationships and acting as a point of contact for branches with supplier complaint escalations. Supporting with maintaining high product availability by sourcing alternative products for out of stock products. Negotiating and managing cost price increases. Support with the new product development process
I have developed my pre-existing skills in negotiation, data analysis and stock management but I have also developed new skills through conducting the apprenticeship such as supply chain management, merchandising and the range review process.
I really enjoyed the apprenticeship programme. The course material was relevant to my role, engaging and helped me to develop my skills. I gained many connections across the business and increased relationships with other colleagues.
My course was very well structured with a clear timetable for sessions and the work required for each module. My trainer was very well organised and made sure I understood what was required off me at all stages.
I received lots of support from my employer such as 20% off the job learning time per week to complete the work required. I was also able to seek guidance from my colleagues on work to complete to ensure I have the right understanding.
I received lots of support, making sure that I understood what was required off me and that I could conduct the work to the best of my ability.
This programme related directly to my role and therefore it has helped me to develop my skills in buying and merchandising. This is going to enable me to unlock promotion easier.
