  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Apprenticeship is based around an 80/20 split, 80% of my time is towards my role at Cap, and the other 20% is dedicated to obtaining my degree. I love my apprenticeship but as I started before COVID 19 my experience may differ to new starters. I also love working at Cap, brilliant company overall.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • All of my skills have been developed and have most definitely come along way since I started. The apprenticeships has really allowed me to find my path within the industry as I discovered I'd like to be a project manager. To be frank, I thought I would be useless as I couldn't code, but realized my skills were greater than I thought in areas which perhaps a coder couldn't flourish.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I love it, I love all my friends I have made from uni as well as my colleagues at work. The finish line is finally within reach as I am about half way through the apprenticeship, I'm aiming to complete the degree to the best of my ability and fingers crossed score a first.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Not gonna lie, Aston could be way more organised when it comes to the DTS programme, more often then not, us apprentices suffer with confusion from where they mess up dates, email chains and more. The learning is great and works best when our on campus days are actually in person.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Cap would support anything I do. When I struggled with personal problems, they were first to support me and gave me links to find help. Some areas of the business I hear lack support towards apprentices but my business area (CIS) are brilliant, and even endeavor to find more ways to support us.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • They do offer the support, but I haven't taken much up apart from when I had personal issues. They are happy to listen and [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] (course lead) is very kind and helpful. The lecturers also have times you can reach them for extra help if needed which i have occasionally utilised.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Well, it really made me understand the industry that I work in and provided me with a solid foundation of knowledge that makes me feel smarter than my colleagues lol. I study the business side of things and I feel the uni work really goes hand in hand with my role at work.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I hope networking drinks counts as an extra curricular activity lol - I like attending these haha. They have many other networking events too though, once we had a trip to a data center and also to Microsoft. There are also charity events and fundraisers throughout the year in which they encourage people to participate in.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Capgemini to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Easy answer, however, working at home it is down to your initiative and perspective to get the most out of the company, and then for the company to get the most out of you. They're very flexible and supportive, don't think I could of got a better result if i tried.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?
  • Be yourself, I was myself and I smashed it out the park. They saw potential in me, gave me a chance, and now everyone is a winner. Being fake, you'll only find yourself stuck in the long run so make sure to stay to your true authentic self, possibly research IT or Capgemini prior to applying.
