  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am currently working on a support role to support multiple applications that my current client has. I work from home and so on the average day I have a few meetings including a daily stand up with my team and then sessions with the clients. I also have started to work on some other project work for the same client.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, I have learnt quite a lot about what my business unit does and how they contribute to the whole company. There are plenty of internal and external qualifications that Capgemini will support you through. We also get access to Pluralsight and Coursera so you can use these to take premium courses. In my role I have also had a chance to develop my soft skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • On the Capgemini side of things the work is ok and the team and company culture at Cap is great. However, my experience with the university is not great. The standard of teaching on the whole is bellow what I would expect. They never seem to have a timetable until the final minute which makes planning your work and life outside of work difficult.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure of the programme could in Cap is good however it can vary between BU. It seems that some BUs offer more opportunities than others, especially with social / volunteering events. The structure at Aston is not so good. The teaching structure is not that effective in my opinion and they don't seem to know what they are doing next week.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support you receive from each area of Cap is generally very good. My managers generally seem very good about supporting me through the programme and allowing time to attend university lectures. The company does support you by pairing you with another apprentice that is further along programme than you. I find this to be VERY helpful. Also you are given study leave and your expenses are paid for so you can attend in person teaching.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I don't think the training provider supports me very well. I thought that the ALE was very good but then after that I find myself frustrated with the structure of the modules and the teaching. I think that the attitude of most of the staff you see is positive so I can only assume the problems come from higher up.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel like perhaps this is an area which could be improved, as I don't feel like I have yet had the opportunity to apply most of the technical skills I have learnt. However, again I think this depends on what BU / account you are in as I have seen other apprentices have this opportunity.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I think this could be an area to improve on also, because of the move to hybrid / remote working things like sports teams are few and far between. However the attitude from the company around it is very positive and they are keen to increase the social activities and in person meetups.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Capgemini to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The people who work there are genuinely nice people and the degree apprenticeship a good route to get your foot into the industry. Management are supportive and from what I can see down the line, people who have completed the apprenticeship are doing very well for themselves and have progressed quickly.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?
  • Research the company, get comfortable with assessment centers, have a positive eager to learn attitude. As its very entry level no experience is required and therefore attitude and personality is everything. If you get an telephone offer, be prepared to have to chase around the recruitment team to get a formal contract as it was a week point and I almost accepted another offer because of how long they took.
