  • My role is to consult client needs on mechanical solutions within the built environment across different sectors individually but typically in a team

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • My Skills in design software has come along way with CAD, Revit, Hevacomp and IES all being used to complete project while basic skills such as math and problem solving being tested each day has made me better at both.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the range of work that I undertake in different sectors across the country whether that's healthcare, residential or commercial properties and seeing how each areas need different solutions and a great sense of accomplishment is gained from completing projects.

  • My programme is structured in a way where i have the flexibility to transition from project to project so i can better practice certain skills consistently rather than wait for another job to practice that particular skill again.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive adequate support in all areas in a professional, educational and personal sense since there are set people I can speak to if I have any issues and question regarding my career.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have experienced good support from my education provider since they keep track on what's best in areas i need to progress and provide support in areas that i may struggle in.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I beilve that the modules tailored towards my role are very beneficial since its good practice to carry out these tasks to have a good understanding of what technical details i need to learn. While as others are standard units in each they don't provide much in my job role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • In our office we have a bi-monthly breakfast event (DTOT) which is an event that allows the younger engineers to network with other people in the industry and help build contacts.

  • Yes

  • If someone was looking to start their career in engineering or in other corporate roles TBA provide a good guideline to follow and provide a nice environment to work and learn in


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Troup Bywaters + Anders?
  • I would research the company its self and see what our driving points for the future are such as carbon neutral design and if interested knowing more about this would help since it is a crucial part if our business in its progression in the modern market.
