  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My day to day role as an Network Rail apprentices varries from being out on the tracks to copmplete pracitle task and gain expernice. It could also be a day in the office catching up on paper work and making sure the correct legal documents are completed. With all of this i have to manage time to make spacce for courseworks and reports in order to complte my apprenticshihp.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • All the skills i have learnt throughout my apprenticship have been new to me. I have developed my skill in time mangement which is a key thing to complete this apprenticship

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I like comming in everyday knowing the work will be difrent from the previous day. I like working with the teams and helping out in both practical and office tasks.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Network Rail?
  • My manager sits down with me every 12 weeks for an hour to see what i have been doing. This helps me arrange diffrent placments with diffrent teams within Network Rail. The manaager is 100% commited to helping me achive what i want to.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is set out from year one where and induction to what will happen over the 3 years is expalined. It is simple and well organised.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Training provides are on call for us 24 hours a day. If i was to come accross a problem or question with any work i would know who to contact for instant help.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The employer is always keen on helping devlop my skill. My manger is always signing me up to new a diffrent things which are being introdueced to the railway.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • In the first year all expense are paid for. the secon and third are a bit more diffcult however, there are pleanty of opertunities to work overtime and night shifts to gain that extra bit of money and also devlop new skills.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are pleanty of charity events set up through out the year which any member can take part in. Every depot has ther own way of celbrating a 'job well done'.

  • 9. Would you recommend Network Rail to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a great chance to devlop sikll and earn at the same. You gain valuable qaulification which can be used wolrdwide.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Network Rail?
  • Make the most of the time on the apprenticship, be organised and pro active to learing new slills.
