Network rail signalling Review

Signalling apprentice. Day to day tasks are carrying out maintenance activities on the railway. When a fault comes in we are first to attend and try to find and rectify the problem.

Currently progressing towards NVQ level 3 and already achieved level 2 and BTEC level 2. Once qualified I will be sent on seperate courses to further increase my knowledge

I love coming in to work and knowing I will be working with a team and mostly be outside instead of being stuck inside behind a desk.

Could be a lot more personal recognition however for such a large company you do get a higher than average degree of recognition. Team members are welcoming and are not scared to say when you have done a good job.

Could be a lot more organised due to th first year not really having anything to do with the job. 2nd and 3rd years you must be independent and able to organise alot of the work yourself.

Support is there when asked for but sometimes could be abit more forthcoming in asking what was needed

My salary package doesn't really meet my costs however I was aware of this before starting my apprenticeship and compared with most other apprenticeships it is alot higher paying

Due to being such a big company there are always events taking place outside of work

I am glad I have had this oppourtunity and have already recommended to many friends one of which has now got on the course

Get through the first year and then really knuckle down when you get into your depot
