  • I am a Network Rail apprentice. This involves daily life of visiting HMS Sultan each day to carry out my training before I move to ym depot for years 2 and 3.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills. This includes my abilities in electrical craft. I have also learnt a lot about teamwork, and what it's like to have a full time job.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy this programme a lot as it has developed my personality and given me an experience away from home.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Network Rail?
  • I feel very valued by the company as great care is taken to ensure our wellbeing.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very structured as there is a timetable set out so you know what you are learning throughout the year.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • There is endless support for ASO's, instructors and office staff.

  • I feel the support from the employer is good, as any quesries are met.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • For this first year there are no real expendatures as everything is paid for, so the salary more than covers this.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • The areas has many opportunites for days out, such as the beach or the zoo.

  • 9. Would you recommend Network Rail to a friend?
  • Yes

  • Because it is an enjoyable experience which gives you life skills.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Network Rail?
  • To be yourself and always be willing in your work.
