  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role consists of managing subcontract accounts. General admin of the contracts, updating records. This includes reviewing application for payments and paying subcontractors at the end of each month appropriately, based on the assessment we have carried out.

  • My software skills have drastically improved, predominantly excel skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my apprenticeship and my job as a whole. My commercial team is great, and were very welcoming when I first joined. They are also very supportive. I am making progress and taking up more responsibilities within my role.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I'd consider my programme to be well structured. Their were many induction processes I had to complete including health and safety. I am currently seeking more training opportunities and exploring what is offered. My weeks are consistent with sufficient tasks and support.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My commercial team provide sufficient support and are always happy to help. I have several go to people if I have any questions.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I feel as if I could have more support from my college mentor to support my educational side. My time at college however was enjoyable and I had enough support to achieve the grades I wanted.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My education at Leeds College of building partly helped with my current role. Some of the units gave me some base knowledge for when I started the role, however a lot of the concepts were new.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are plenty of volunteering opportunities such as school visits. Company events also occur occasionally. I am currently based in a small town however make myself busy by attending the gym and boxing classes

  • Yes

  • BAM provides great opportunities and a promising start to the career you wish to take. You feel valued within the company and enjoy many benefits while working for the company


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAM?
  • Be ready for a great experience and start to your career. You must be open to travel and live away from home. BAM will provide the support you need to make a good start to your career.
