  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am the Training & Resourcing Administrator and I sit within HR. My daily tasks vary as I tend to be involved with lots of different think, the main part of my job is recruitment. Where I manage our online system recruiting; Graduates, Business Apprentices & Industrial Placement students. This happens all year round and is on-going. My daily interactions can include talking with members of careers services, keeping a close relationship ensuring we are up to date with upcoming events, to my team members, Managers, Directors and external training companies when I am booking training for delegates within our UK Head Office. My projects are given to me every 2 weeks where I have a One to One with my manager/supervisor (which I really value) this allows me any time to discuss any issues I am having and keep my manager on track of where I am with tasks which have been delegated to me. I also have a team meeting every Friday which allows every member of my team to keep on track and ensure we know what each other is getting up to. Every day is different, some days I will solely be on our recruitment site, printing sifting and marking application forms, telephone interviewing etcetera. And other days I can be helping with training and development needs, paying invoices, attending meetings. I also manage the social media page @CareersPSA which I update daily with new jobs and posts. .

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I would say my skills really have developed in the last year, I didn’t have a lot of confidence with work I produced although I knew it was to a good standard. My Manager really helped me be proud of work I produced and encouraged me to ‘show off’ with it, she was very supportive and was able to spot the areas I lacked confidence in and pushed me to do and achieve the best I could. She would also always allow me to take credit for things I had done and let my directors know what I was capable of (presenting in front of one for budget approval) I now find my NVQ work a lot easier to tackle as it relates to my role here and I know this role like the back of my hand! I have attended a lot of training courses here and learnt a lot about the business and what it has to offer, I also helped coordinate these courses.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my programme, and I am very happy I chosen to take the route of an apprenticeship rather than University. I am earning a wage(drive a new car every 6/9 months) & I am gaining a real experience, building a name for myself and getting a qualification I think the experience here will stick with me forever the skills I have acquired through my apprenticeship are invaluable. I sit within HR and all of the team are very supportive, we attend Quarterly reviews with every member of HR from the business this includes Tile Hill and PSA Finance, we work together in teams usually in these reviews and find out about the business. My Team are also a fantastic support network for me and have always been very encouraging and kind. The Apprenticeship scheme at PSA has exceeded my expectations.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Stellantis?
  • I feel very valued by PSA, my Manager is always first to stress what a key role I play in the team. I think in regards to internal recognition I am very recognised within the business from working in two different areas and arranging a lot of training courses throughout the last year, when you do a good job for somebody here they appreciate it and remember you from it, they sometimes go to the extent of emailing your director to let them know how pleased they were with the work you done. My involvement with tasks is huge, whether I am supporting my manager & supervisor or doing my own project work, somewhere along the line it links to my manager’s tasks and even her managers tasks! There is never a shortage of work in my team, and every time I have asked my manager to be involved in a task she has allowed me too and took into consideration & used my ideas.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is very organised: Induction week was great, we learnt a lot about PSA and did some really fun tasks, the HR team really ensured we bonded as apprentices first so we had a support network from the beginning. I feel that the programme has always been very well organised.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • HR Team are very supportive, sitting within HR as you can imagine I have made some great friends and colleagues here. I always feel like if I needed to I could ask for help whether that be from my manager or a member of the HR Team. My Manager has always been very supportive in regards to workload and ensuring I am OK with work set. I also have a One to One with my HR Advisor every six months but this can be scheduled in whenever I feel appropriate all I have to do is email her and she sets aside time for me.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary/package meets my needs. I did receive a payrise in September after my year 1 was complete of which I was satisfied with. I think they could look at different ways to increase apprentices wages as it is quite low in comparison to other places as the work load tends to be just as much as the placement students but significantly lower.
