  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the program being in the second year of my apprenticeship a lot of my time is spent with my mentor within our patch, this gives me real hands on experience of the job and i get along well with my mentor so overall the scheme has been positive for me throughout

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My apprenticeship was organised fairly well, considering I was hired through Covid 19 there was a lot more difficulty involved with the planning of my learning which is understandable given the circumstances, I would very rarely be unaware of what I was doing or had to be doing and where I had to be to complete my learning.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive lots of support from Severn Trent from many different levels, most of all my mentor has supported me throughout and i can get in touch with my managers and the apprenticeship scheme manager to seek further support if necessary. We could have been given a bit more support earlier on in the apprenticeship to understand the scheme a bit better when everything was new but overall it has been good.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have some visits from my assessor to check over my OneFile progress and how I am getting on. Also I receive emails from the provider informing me how I can further my progress which is handy. I believe I receive enough support to help me complete my apprenticeship to a good standard.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification gives me a better understanding and a larger scale view of my job role and how it effects the industry. I feel it will help me be a better technician with a wider array of knowledge and understanding. Some of the learning that we complete is not relevant to my role however it does give a wider understanding of the role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Some social activities have tried to be arranged throughout my apprenticeship but was difficult to arrange succesfully due to Covid and other such things however a new talent social has been arranged for all apprentices within my company so there are such events to partake in for all apprentices within the company

  • 9a. Would you recommend Severn Trent to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I believe Severn Trent is a great company to work for that really supports and cares about their apprentices. It is a company that I am proud to work for. I feel like my apprenticeship has really set me up for well for a good career within the company with lots of job prospects and I have all ready made good connections with my colleagues.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Severn Trent?
  • I would tell them to take a look at Severn Trent's values as they are very important within the company and used with every part of my job role and day to day activities. I would also tell them to look into the company and get a feel for what Severn Trent is as it is much more than just a water company.
