  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • There was not too much to do day to day. The main thing was to remember to record activities that you do as part of your working day and relate this back to specific parts of the apprenticeship. I would recommend keeping the activity log open as much as possible to record what you are doing there and then, rather than go back through later, trying to remember! A lot of project work was done during or your normal working day/ activities as well.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, I passed the level 5 leading and managing business with a distinction. In my course, there were more project management tools and skills than in previous courses. I was able to build upon the previous knowledge as well as learn a few new things along the way. These have all contributed to improving my confidence to complete tasks in my new role as regional, that use the same skills I have learned and improved on during this course.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoyed the programme. One of the big things l liked was getting to meet colleagues from other businesses within the group. The Workshops were great for learning each module. My mentor was great, she would work with me to keep me on track with a fairly heavy workload. I feel the face to face workshops added more value and a better learning experience then the virtual ones.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Well structured, but I did feel it took longer then needed to understand! Mentors are definitely important for support and keeping you on track to complete. The format for each module was (in an ideal world) prework > workshop > apply to your working day & record on your tracker & complete any other tasks. I found that 50% of the time, I ended up doing prework after the workshop and I didn't feel like the worked better or worse!

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I was lucky that my line manager was very supportive as was my RD. There was no other contact ref the apprenticeship other than with my manager and the apprenticeship team. The workshops were a little out of the way for me & I would have to stay the night before as travel before and after the workshop (2-3 hours each way) was unrealistic. But again my manager was appy for travel time to be taken in to my working hours.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Good team and great attitude. Always felt supported. My mentor was fantastic and would keep in regular contact. If I needed help everyone on the apprenticeship team was more than happy to help. A chat was also set up with our group so we should ask each other for help as well.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • This helped me improve and gain more skills & confidence. The projects actually opened up opportunities that lead to the new role that I love! The skills that I covered have really helped to improve how I manage a team and build the new area of the business that I am currently working on.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Not as many as there possibly could be. The only ones that I can think of are all related to a fundraising event. Branches rarely put anything like this together due to numbers and I now work virtually, and still growing my team. I will be looking to add something in the future for my virtual team.

  • Yes
