  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is training to be an associate project manager, each week I record 7 hours of 'off the job work' for my training provider which counts as experience. Day to day in the office I attend meetings with my team to discuss up coming projects and approve them, they then have to be recorded and the progress is tracked. One to one training is also provided by different areas of the team to learn and understand their roles.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my communication and listening skills since starting as there are many professionals within the workplace who provide extra information on topics that open up areas for debate. Time management has also been developed as you have to balance off the job hours with meetings and deadlines for work.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed the challenge of learning new information whilst also experiencing and putting theory into practice first hand within the field. My programme has a great mix of site visits, meetings and independent learning which keeps my attention and doesn't bore me. I wouldn't imagine going for a different apprenticeship as my team and company provide me with the best support for my course.

  • What I learn from the modules in my qualification relates directly to my work within my day to day role and also expands my knowledge of systems within the role. As I complete a module I can see where the area fits in within my team and how it is used to successfully deliver projects.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • HR create social days where apprentices are invited to go along to the activities to broaden connections whilst in the company and also have some fun. They also have an academy where you can book onto courses to further your education and expand among the business. Every employee also gets volunteering days where they can help at charity events and also promote it around work.
