  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I currently work on a project for a government body, developing an Oracle Business intelligence solution.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have had some training in SQL, Java, Oracle Business Intelligence 11g, for me this was built on top of previous programming experience, but so far have all been new languages. But I'm continuing to develop my skills with oracle products as this is the area I will be working in.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The program is a great balance of work and learning, you are given the oportunity to push yourself and be very independant which is a great way for me to work and get my degree!

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Capgemini?
  • Capgemini are keen to see us progress and proove ourselves, the content of the programme is constantly under review to ensure we are getting the best education whilst working and to ensure we have a good work/life balance.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme format will work well I feel and (as has been the case already) the opinions of the apprentices has the power to dramatically shape the programme for the better.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Our current training provider for the apprenticship part of our programme currently struggles to meet the needs of such a rapidly growing, and nationaly mobile scheme. But all these issues are being dealt with surprisingly quickly.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Each apprentice has a reviewer within the company, who has the role of supporting you in promotions and in a slightly pastoral role to make sure you are getting the right projects. Personally I have very regular contact with my reviewer and he has taken a very active role in helping me shape my future.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • For an apprenticeship the salary is rather good, and as the work is project based, most of the time you are covered by the expenses policy, so my own personal costs are down to a bare minimum.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • The projects you work on all form their own communities while they run, you always have the chance to go out and explore the city you'll be working in and make new opportunities.

  • Yes

  • The pay package and programme are a great way to gain your degree, working for a company that has a great amount of investment in your future.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?
  • I just turned up and told them about myself, seemed to work.
