Primarily, my role is to learn the assembly processes and related quality control methods. This includes working alongside permanent staff members or independently to produce assemblies, maintain quality and safety standards, provide support for testing of completed assemblies and completing job reports towards my NVQ.

I thoroughly enjoy working at HPP, my colleagues are generally nice and very supportive of my learning. It's a job where I look forward to my day! There is a strong team ethic, and high level of standards in everything we do.
In working for a big company it can sometimes go amiss for showing how valued each individual is. However, within each team there is very good level of appreciation between colleagues and our managers/team leaders. The company puts on many free events throughout the year, including opportunities to meet the race drivers.
The programme has a clearly defined list of NVQ units to work towards which sets the basis for our day-to-day learning. Some departments are more organised than others, but that is down to the competence of the responsible team leader. Overall, the programme is structured well- it is a good platform in becoming competent and independent.
Our training provider for the NVQ is Semta. They provide a high level of support towards the job reports, guidance and pastoral support. We regularly meet up with separate meetings for the NVQ and general support. There are also drop-in sessions where we can meet up to discuss any problems or get advice.
The HR team responsible for our training regularly meets up for progress updates, as do our Managers. They're always available for support and guidance- no hassle at all. There is a strong focus on ensuring I receive the correct training to a good standard and ensure we work towards our success.
Personally, I live locally so I haven't had to relocate therefore my living costs are quite low and the salary is a good level for me. Other whom have relocated to Northamptonshire seem to cope relatively well. There is also the incentive if a good annual bonus.
There aren't many official company opportunities outside of work. However, employee organised events are encouraged and advertised. Although we do have a fantastic 'Summer Fun Day' and Christmas Party each year!

As a Formula One fan, it is one of dream jobs and I have found my time here to be very rewarding.
Present yourself well, research the company and most importantly, work hard during your studies at school or college.
