  • Providing for the education, support and wellbeing of children in a preschool. The role entails quite a lot of physical activity. It also involves meeting with and working alongside many different families to support the development of their children

  • Learned a lot of new skills to follow company procedures and make daily use of existing skills in writing to complete forms, observations and assessments.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy learning about new things but find that the work environment does not always match the procedures and processes we are taught.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Regular meetings with the tutor and a clear structure for the course is helpful. The SmartAssessor website used is a little unintuitive though.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Little support within the workplace. There is a structure in place but managers are not really aware of what the role of an apprentice.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My tutor has provided exceptional support throughout the course and has made themselves available on weekends and outside normal working hours to help complete the course.

  • I come away from each training session with a list of new practices I wish to try and studying theorists has improved my work considerably

  • No

  • The ethos of the company does not extend to the nursery management and it is a stressful environment in which to work with low staff morale.

  • Visit the nursery first.
