  • 1. Please give an overview of what your virtual experience involved:
  • The work experience took four days and on each day we had interactive lectures, group activities and tasks to complete on our own. It took place from 10am to 3pm with a comfort and lunch break. We had enough time to complete all the tasks and ask questions during each seminar.

  • 4. How well organised was your virtual experience?
  • The work experience was extremely well organised, ranging from the application process to the last session. We always received help when we needed it and the website we used, forage, worked really well and was clear as we were able to see all our meetings and tasks in one place and could also communicate through the chat.

  • 5. How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
  • I learned a lot about the firm and Pinsent Masons is definitely a firm I want to apply to in a few years. Even though it is such a large firm, it is still like a family and looks after its employees in every possible way from career options to mental health and diversity support.

  • 6. How much did your virtual experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
  • The work experience did not really help me to decide about my future plans but more to realise that the plans I had are completely right for me and that I want to pursue a law degree and go to a law firm like Pinsent Masons to qualify as a lawyer.

  • 7. Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
  • We did not get any payment as it was a virtual work experience for College Students. Furthermore, it was online, so we did not get any free meals and we did not have any travel or accommodation costs. We should not be paid as we should appreciate the opportunity to experience how such a big law firm works.

  • 8. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
  • There were many opportunities for networking and meeting employees. We had the chance to meet new trainee solicitors, current trainee solicitors, qualified solicitors and even a partner. They told us about their stories, gave us advice and we could ask questions. There was also the opportunity to meet other students who have similar dreams and future aspirations.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Pinsent Masons to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Pinsent Masons organised a great virtual work experience where I learnt a lot, so I would recommend it to everyone interested in law. Furthermore, I would recommend it as everyone was friendly and tried to help with problems and responded as quickly as possible. Pinsent Masons can also be recommended to see how a large law firm works.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pinsent Masons?
  • The most important thing for an application, not just to Pinsent Masons is to check the grammar and spelling and make no mistakes. Furthermore, it is important to show genuine interest for law and to tell the truth about previous experiences and skills. As the application process takes some time, I would also recommend to plan enough time for completing it.
