My role is working within a kitchen team as a chef and kitchen team leader. I am responsible for providing good quality food, cooked to correct hygiene standards and specification requirements. I also run shifts and aid in training of new staff members and assisting my Km with rotas
Yes I have developed pre existing knowledge of cooking methods, hygiene standards, storage and holding requirements for food. I have learnt more about the food delivery process and what kind of learner I am. I have learnt how to give and receive productive feedback and have become a better chef
I found it thoroughly enjoyable from start to end. My trainer was very engaging and knowledgeable throughout the process and I learnt so much in the process. My life was easy to use and navigate and the end point assessments were good too. Despite covid restrictions it was very good
My program was organised and well structured from the start to end. Each meeting consisted of going over something new as well as revisiting any areas I felt I needed to further develop. I enjoyed the online learning aspect and found it a good level to learn and remember knowledge
My general manager, assistant manager, kitchen manager and team leaders were very supportive of my apprenticeship from start to end. Nothing was too much and they were all available fully for me to approach for help and support, further training and to ask questions when I needed to do so
My lifetime training provider was excellent from start to end, being there for whatever was needed and for any query’s I had at any time. I felt like nothing was too much and that they were always happy to help assist and support me to my final end goals
I definately feel as though my apprenticeship has massively helped both in my knowledge of the kitchen environment, admin and physical skill level too. All in all I feel like completing the apprenticeship has been beneficial in so many ways within the working environment in the kitchen and in prep
Our workplace regularly meets for staff events such as bowling, bbqs and after work drinks and games of pool. We are a close kitchen team so we spend time together inside and outside of work and also Greene king offers extra training events and professional development and also networking meetings
Yes
Because it has allowed me to complete an apprenticeship with lifetime training for free. My production chef level 2 apprenticeship. For this i am very great full. Also I have met some wonderful employees and friends along the way during my time within Greene king pubs. Recommend for doing apprenticeships
I would join a pub in which you have a solid team, who support you and are prepared to work well within a team with you. Work somewhere where you have a genuine interest in the food and the menu so you enjoy your job rather than it being chore
