  • Team leader assisting the general manager in the day to day running of the pub.

  • Enjoyed the outcome, COVID unfortunately delayed how long the course went on for.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Was very organised to begin with, but when COVID came, changing who was looking after me became disorganised. As I kept having to go through the same stuff with each person. Communication between advisors could have been better.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Lots of support, my GM who was my mentor was brilliant every step of the way.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Had to chase training providers a couple of times as meetings were missed without letting me know why they’d cancelled appointments.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Unfortunately the qualification I got was behind my own progress with the job. I’m currently moving into an assistant managers role and have only just passed level 2. Again not helped by COVID.

  • Not currently

  • 9a. Would you recommend Greene King to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The company is brilliant to work for and there are a lot of opportunities to progress. My experience just wasn’t helped by COVID.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Greene King?
  • Look into the apprenticeship scheme, although my previous experience wasn’t the best. I still want to use it to progress up the ladder. COVID was a huge factor in my personal experience. If it hadn’t have been for that I would have enjoyed this part of the scheme much more.
