  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I run the CNC machines. This means I program the machine then load the material in and machine the component. Then I would be stopping the machine along the way to check measurements.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yeah I’ve learnt how to program and run CNC machines. And use CAD and CAM systems. And been on training courses. I’ve also been trained on use of overhead cranes.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I think it’s good and you learn a lot but not rushed to learn it. It gives you time to learn all you need before you are employed in your roll

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think it’s good as college one day a week then in work for the other 4 days so you get to learn what to do and how to do things safely. While being paid

  • You get lots of support and there’s plenty of people to talk to if you needs and any issues with work or the course or home can be made confidentialy

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Lots of support with tasks being regularly set online and reminders of deadlines for tasks

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think it’s helps as teaches you how to do your job safely and you get a better understanding of what actually goes on when you do certain operations.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are however I don’t do any as I’m busy already

  • Yes

  • It’s well paid good training program and a safe working environment. And you work with good people


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Babcock?
  • Just try your best at collage and keep on top of your work.
