  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have mixed views for this question to be honest and would split this into two parts. The learning side amazing the early careers team are really knowledgeable and friendly and make the learning easy to understand and are always readily available if you require support. However the same can't be side on the placement side I feel at times that the don't always understand that you are an apprentice and can have high expectations and I also feel that they are not as inclusive as they could be.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well structured and is really planned out well. They make sure that you are on track with everything and make sure that there is everything you need to be able to progress and have all the resources to pass your apprenticeship to a high standard. Nothing to improve here.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The employer provides lots of support on a personal side and if you need support for issues outside of work then they will support you with work which is great and shows they care. However they expect you to know what you are doing even though you are an apprentice. They don't like you asking you lots of questions as they consider this over questioning even if you asking valid questions to help with your understanding.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • You get countless amounts of support from the training provider. They provide more resources then you need to make sure that every base is covered also they make sure tasks are easy to understand and laid out well. If you require additional support then they are only a phone call away and will speak to you anytime.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that my learning does help me with my apprenticeship as it helps me understand my job better and allows me to be able to perform my tasks more effectively. The only issue here is not all parts of the course is suitable for my particular role however this is normal.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • The apprenticeship offers a outward bound course for 1st year learners to help your team building skills and to allow you get to know your apprentices better which is good. There are also lots of opportunities to get involved in activities around the year to build on some of your skills more like helping at induction.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • BAE Systems is a great employer to work for and has many opportunities for apprentices both whilst on programme and after programme. They have good benefits for apprentices as well however there are certain benefits apprentices don't get. The training provider is in house so has the interests of the apprentices as their priority.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
  • I would say that it is really worth applying for an apprenticeship with BAE Systems. I would say that you should work really hard with your application and really read the job description so that you understand it as some of the questions relate to it and also just be yourself and be ready to talk out your achievements you have made to make yourself stick out above others.
