Apprentices at Burges Salmon are treated very similarly to trainees. I am involved in two larger matters on an ongoing basis and I also do some work for my supervisor.
Yes - drafting, research, IT skills in particular
I really enjoy the apprenticeship - the work is challenging and varied.
The programme is well structured. The firm has designed the programme structure to align with the stages of the apprenticeship.
Burges Salmon offers lots of support - we have our supervisors and various other contacts across the firm, we are given plenty of flexibility and study time, and we are given all the resources we need.
BPP offers revision sessions and provides some practise papers ahead of exams. The information we receive is often confusing.
The qualifications I am working towards are a law degree and the SQE, both of which are needed to practice law as a solicitor. The study modules are also relevant to my role, as they cover key areas of law e.g. contract law and land law.
Yes, there are a range of extra-curriculars such as a social club and sports teams.
Yes
Burges Salmon is a great place to work. Everyone is very friendly and eager to assist in our development. Apprentices are very valued members of the team and there is a lot of support for the apprenticeship across the firm.
Really fine tune your answers to the basic questions e.g. "why law" or "why Burges Salmon". Have a look at the firm's website and read about the work we do. Make your application stand out by weaving in your personal experiences.
