  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • The role entailed working on a variety of audit tasks such as selecting samples and testing several financial statement line items like cash, PPE, operating expenses, salaries and payroll and equity. In addition, as audit associates we must liaise with a variety of other different teams in PwC such as the Service Delivery Centres.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I feel I have developed plenty of confidence throughout the placements in terms of approaching clients and managing their expectations. I feel I have also improved on my technical expertise and understand the process and methodologies behind the process. Finally, it has provided me with the ability to be independent and develop my organisation skills through trackers and calendars.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Overall, I have relished my time on the programme. The placements have enabled me to apply theory learned in the classroom to practice and helped consolidate my overall understanding of audit. From a social aspect, I have enjoyed the attending of the socials on placement and enjoying my time being a university experience.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • From my view, the structure of the course is very good. During each of our placements we are provided with plenty of guidance and training. Furthermore, in terms of my studies the tutors, lecturers and course director have been very helping in dealing with my questions. The benefit of the course is that we get both the university and professional experience.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • During my placements I was offered a wealth of support. From managers on the jobs I worked with, career coach and flying start champion I felt well supported throughout my placements. Undertaking the final placement in a virtual environment has been challenging however this has been eased due to the support I received.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • When undertaking the ACA exams, we were given plenty of useful materials and revision resources to approach exams confidently. I would say one of the hardest elements to the degree is passing the exams. However, the university team do a good job at getting you prepared and are there to help and guide you if you do require additional support.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Through completing the exams I feel my technical and theoretical understanding of the core accounting principles has ben vastly developed. It has provided me with the groundworks and fundamentals of accounting to help me gain a better insight into the audit procedures and ensure audit quality. l The university provides top tips on completing your placement and regular contact is made to ensure you are feeling supported.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are a range of different activities and societies to be involved in with PwC. For example, the office has a football and netball team. In addition every year, there is an annual sports dodgeball competition which is a great way to socialise away from the office. I have also gotten the opportunity to attend work socials.

  • 9a. Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Firstly, I believe it offers a whole wealth of benefits. For example you gain a professional qualification, degree from a Russel Group and exposure into the audit sector. It is a also very supportive firm to work at and there are plenty of opportunities to get involved with. Also in today's uncertain times it is ideal .


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
  • My top tips are to stay as calm and clear and concise as possible. A really good approach is to follow the STAR method to provide a concrete answer. Practice goes a long way and also undertaking some research into PwC and its values. My final bit of advice would be do not worry if you don't think you know everything!
