  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My daily roles involve checking and responding to emails, minute taking at meetings, liaising with my project and client team and delegating any actions between us for the week/day, project administration and governance, attending meetings etc. My day to day roles are not fixed and vary everyday! Some weeks we may have internal and or external training courses- these vary on your job role and involvement.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes! At Mace there are endless opportunities to ameliorate existing skills and develop new ones. These are done through training days, lunchtime sessions and mentoring, learning on the job and much more. I have learned how to dynamically work within a team and really value my colleagues. This has made me really enjoy working with them and has increased efficiency within our team.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am really enjoying my programme, especially the trust and responsibilities that I have been given. In addition to this, Mace is very invested in extra curricular and volunteering opportunities, so it is nice to be able to enjoy a range of different activities on the programme.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I cannot fault the organisation/structure of the programme. The line managers and apprenticeship team always come in at clutch and have everything organised for us apprentices. They also liaise with my training provider and ask for apprentice feedback regularly to ensure we are well equipped.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive an astronomical amount of support from both colleagues I work with and colleagues across the organisation. We are also directed to where we can go to if we require additional support for any needs we may have. I have been presented to a very transparent environment making it easier to access support.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The training provider is helpful to an extent. I am not too keen on the provider being online based- however this is subjective and is something that I have adjusted to. However, there is support available, both academic and non-academic- well being etc and financial support. We also have a designated apprenticeship officer who monitors my progress and who I meet up with regularly. This is also a forum where I can raise concerns regarding my qualification.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The direct correlation between my qualification and day to day work is unbelievable! There will be instances I will witness the practical before I understand the theory and vice versa however, this just makes it easier for me to understand what I am learning about, both at uni and on site/in the office.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Mace are never shy of any volunteering opportunities or social events. In addition to this there are many internal networks which any colleague can join such as, LGBTQ+, Diversity, Women, Disability etc
