  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Roles are varied from operational customer service, logistics, finance and forecasting/demand roles, plus even project based roles. Day-to-day it would consist of the first few months training you in role, beyond that would take you to having your own deadlines and responsibilities to manage. Usually an 8-4 or 9-5 day but very flexible also,

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I think Mondelez have enabled me to develop largely through numerous areas. Confidence being the main area through facilitating presentations, projects and meaningful conversations to allow you to keep growing. The responsibility that comes with the apprenticeship is a large factor, as you are treated like other workers and not looked down upon as you might think the stereotype for apprentices is.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I fully enjoy the programme, best decision I ever made without a shadow of doubt. The mixture of hands-on learning with the ability to get a degree at the same time is incomparable. Of course the workload is higher but the rewards are far greater, at the end of the degree apprenticeship you have the degree to show your intelligence and open the right doors, but also the experience to 'walk the walk'.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very well structured, the 20% studying and 80% working balance is great as it allows you to have sufficient time to learn whilst at work, but the study day gives you the time to not fall behind on uni work. I feel very lucky for this to be the case, as some other organizations I have heard don't get this privilege from speaking to other individuals on similar apprenticeships. Some minor confusion on the order of placements, but largely organised and structured.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Support is fully given from the employer, from the 20/80 split of working and studying, to being given a mentor to support you through your career. This mentor is a high-level manager with the knowledge to point you in the right direction, check on your mental well being and facilitate your growth even further. Alongside fairly regular catch ups with the early careers team and monthly 1-1s with your line managers.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Full support is provided by the business to accommodate to the university requirements, the 80/20 split works well but beyond this there is opportunities for more time if you need to focus on assignments. Mentors and line managers provide support for projects if these are needed to qualify for an assignment.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Learning the theory through the qualification allows you to embed your knowledge further through learning the theory and then applying it at work. The degree we do is a Chartered Manager degree and allows you to experience a wide range of theory that can be applied in several business areas.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There is an early careers network at work that is available to join, this allows people in similar apprenticeships/schemes within the business to share tips, experiences and just have fun. It's very wide and allows you to network also. Additionally, there are numerous forums that you can join in order to grow further and have impactful change.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Mondelez to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The business culture is amazing, both supporting and developing staff through their own goals, whilst maintaining some amazing KPI's. For me it's perfectly suited and allows you to grow whilst learning a range of roles that provide different skillsets and getting qualifications to then further your future career.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mondelez?
  • Tips when applying I would say are be yourself, they're not looking for the perfect candidate but one that can grow and be molded into a valuable team asset. Plus i would say be confident, I think a part-time job or some work experience really is a crucial stepping stone before joining such a large organisation.
