  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • within my role I am required to carry out various maintenance activities that might need doing this is called planned maintenance, however depending upon what machines are running there could be various different breakdowns and machines that need sorting like replacing parts and components. Various health checks are made on the machines throughout the day.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • while working for the BMW group I have picked up various small and big skills and have also developed upon them. for example I have learnt how to do basic maintenance on big and small machines for changing filters to removing and refitting whole axels. also while carrying out the Btec and NVQ part of the apprenticeship I have managed to better my existing skills

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • While working within the BMW group and on the apprenticeship program i have enjoyed everything so far from the actual course its self to working on site, however there has been a little bit of confusion within the btec side of the course but other than that i have enjoyed every day.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • when working on site within the BMW plant everything is well organized and structured as everyone knows what needs to be done and where everyone needs to be, however when it comes to the btec there has been some confusion within the first and second year but in the end it all go sorted.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • there is enough support if it is needed, there are always people to speak and talk to if help is needed. there are also various different types of support you can get for example there are people to support you with Btec/NVQ work or there can be people to support you emotionally.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • there is enough support from the training provider, all of the tutors who teach us are well trained and are always willing to help you if you are stuck or need a better understanding. you c\an also request one to one meetings with some tutors via Microsoft teams if additional support might be needed.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • the qualification helps me preform better within the working environment because it gives you all the basic knowledge first meaning that you can understand simpler things within work, it also breaks down the more complicated aspects meaning that when you are in work you have an idea of what's going on even though you are working on unknown machinery.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • sometimes there are sport events like football matches that take place every so often but other than that i am not a wear of any extra-curricular activates that take place. however you can patriciate in overtime which isn't really a extra-curricular activity but it allows you to do jobs that you wouldn't be able to do within the week

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Its a wonderful place to work, everyone within the working environment is supportive and kind. also the education and experience of working in such a high-tech and huge company is next to none. you learn new skills everyday and get to better them as time goes on. also there are so many different routes you can take and so many ways to progress.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group?
  • firstly take your time on the application process and fill it out to the best of your ability. if you get invited to an assessment day ensure that you be your self and be confident and show everyone that you want to work here. lastly ensure you are prepared and have an answer for every question
