  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role encompasses managing a team of around eight salespeople. This includes making sure the team has a focus for the day, keeping track of their KPIs and making sure they are well equipped to meet their sales targets. I run daily team huddles alongside our Sales Manager to make sure the team is on track with all of the above.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned many new skills which enable me to be a better role model to my team; a particularly important skill which I've learned is how to tech time and priority management at work. I have learned a lot about how people take on information and the most effective ways to communicate with them. We also have great access to training courses outside the normal apprenticeship workshops which help to supplement these skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme has been enjoyable so far; while it is quite a challenge to balance my apprenticeship work with the tasks which come along with my role, it has forced me to streamline my working habits and pushed me out of my comfort zone. We have a great support system at Tech Data - any difficulties we have come across have always been short-lived

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I fell that the programme is well organised, we have a very clear structure which has been outlined from the outset. Our deadlines are also very clearly defined and fit neatly around our scheduled workshops. A lot of care is taken to make sure that we don't have to many assignments to complete at any given point. Both the programme manager and our apprenticeship coach at activate are supportive and eager to be flexible based on any unexpected time constraints which may arise.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Both my direct line manager and our apprentice program manager are incredibly supportive of my qualification. All parties are keen for me to get everything that I can from the apprenticeship scheme and I have been afforded a lot of time to be able to complete the work which is required to do that.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Our training provider takes a very structured approach in ensuring that we have the tools to be able to complete the relevant assignments. They are always available to answer any questions which might come up between workshops and we have formally scheduled reviews with our coach who is very approachable and keeps us on track. Our provider has always actively sought feedback from us so that they can support us exactly how we need to be supported.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • While the apprenticeship does cover a lot of topics that I'm familiar with, there are a also some areas which are new to me. I think that the training is thorough enough that it still adds value to my existing knowledge and it helps to explain WHY to continue doing things a certain way. It also helps to bring alive other aspects of business that I'm not engaged with as part of my normal job.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We have a social club which costs £5 per month to be part of. They offer free (or heavily discounted) tickets to some great events. We are given two paid volunteering days which we can use to help the local community which is quite generous and not something that I've seen before. We also have a team called "Elevate" which offers networking events to help with gender equality in the workplace.

  • 9a. Would you recommend TD SYNNEX to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I think the Tech Data is a fantastic place to work, at this point they are running several apprentice programs to support people from all walks of life. Tech Data is truly diverse and their company values are something which I know will resonate well among my friends. Tech Data fosters a very supportive working environment where you are always encouraged to learn and grow.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to TD SYNNEX?
  • I would recommend that, if you are looking to apply to Tech Data, to be yourself in the assessment center. Your personality is going to be your main asset at Tech Data so don't censor yourself. I would say to make sure you are confident and speak up in group situations but don't overshadow other people!
