  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a Cost Consultant, the day-to-day roles are never the same. Recently, I was apart of a team completing a Cost Plan for a Project in Bath. This involved myself being in-charge of certain work packages (e.g. External Walls, Soft Landscaping). Using BIM and Causeway (Cost Planning Software) I was given the responsibility to deliver the Cost of these packages. I also help with Cost Reporting, Cost Estimating and frequently join meetings with Clients to catch them up on the progress of different projects

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • The most important skill I have gained/improved upon from this apprenticeship has been communication and working in a team. Whilst working on projects, you realize how imperative good communication and team work is to make a project a success. Additionally, I have learnt how to use BIM (Building Information Modeling) as well as various other software

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The work I have been given so far has pushed me out of my comfort zone and really excelled my expectations. I have been given more responsibility then I had thought I would be given at this stage in my career and I have developed as a Cost Consultant because of this.
