  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Every day I have to communicate with my team and receive daily updates/policy changes from my manager in order to be able to do my job compliantly and give my customers the most up to date information. I talk to customers via telephone, email and live chat, helping them to book/amend/cancel their holidays, answer any queries, take payments and help them find their perfect holiday.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt so much in my apprenticeship, in terms of developing my confidence in myself as well as in work and also gained so many customer service skills, time management skills, teamwork skills and am starting to learn management skills and making the conscious effort to continue to learn those skills throughout the apprenticeship.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have thoroughly enjoyed my whole apprenticeship. I have learnt so much and I have been supported by my assessor throughout. I enjoy working hard and learning new things so I have found my apprenticeship really interested and learning about both the leisure and some of the business side of the travel industry and extending my learning further than my other colleagues.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My apprenticeship at the start was a lot less structured than what it is now. Once I got into the rhythm of it and had the support from the right people it automatically became so much more structured and I got much more organised and really got into the routine of taking time to focus on the apprenticeship instead of multi-tasking all the time.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I feel very supported by my employer. My assessor is always there to support me with answering any questions or helping me by rereading some of my work and helping me perform to the best of my ability. My current manager is so supportive and does everything she can to help me complete my work and is so encouraging in regards to my upcoming exams.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I haven't started this yet due to delays in my exam however my apprentice coach has been very supportive in setting up an appropriate time for me to discuss and prepare with my exam and preparing me with revision materials and helping to prepare me for what style questions I will be asked.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification has made me perform so much in my role because I have so much more destination and system knowledge than some of my other colleagues as I have been given the additional training to be able to improve my knowledge and share this with my team and my customers.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I don't believe so however we do have social activities within our teams which we can do on our own for example, team mingles/quiz nights/ team parties which helps us to get to know each other better. Especially as I work from home we have virtual meetings in order to keep the team spirit.
