  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • The apprenticeship opened so many opportunities to access and understand parts of the business that I had previously had little exposure to. Though I had completed numerous leadership skills courses in the past, the format of the apprenticeship meant that this time around everything just clicked. Though I have been managing projects and people for over 15 years, I've now greatly enhanced my skill set across so many facets of my role.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I love the job and the company I work for. The apprenticeship has added a depth of understanding that has enhanced my daily experiences. I get to work in a culture that is agile, respectful and champions fresh ideas. I used to see a factory full of machinery but my perspective has had a healthy shift so that I now see the people and the potential waiting to be released.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The off site training element of the course was well structured and expertly organised. Sadly the Covid-19 pandemic put an end to the workshop training and as the training transitioned to fully online we lost the highly valuable interaction with the other trainees. The coaching staff were furloughed and the learning paused which was OK but the restart was a little disjointed. Pandemic aside though, the programme was well put together. I was assigned a mentor by my organisation to support me through the apprenticeship. This was a truly valuable experience and a trusting relationship was formed that supported me when ever I was in need.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer could not have been more supportive. Opportunities were created for me to broaden my understanding of the organisation at all levels. I have been given frequent feedback and guidance that has certainly helped me to make a step change in my performance. Even the General Manager took time out to write testimonials for my portfolio of evidence.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Aside from the disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, when things got a little distracted, I have had absolutely first class support from the training provider. As I neared my EPA the training coach offered to increase the frequency of our calls to ensure that I was fully supported through the increasing pressure of the transition from learning to exams.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • As a direct outcome of my in role skills improving dramatically as a result of the training I received during my apprenticeship, I got promoted and moved into my dream role! I now understand the importance of CPD and focusing on getting the best out of my team through supporting, coaching and mentoring.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Covid put the dampers on a lot of the social side of things for the business, but normally there are multiple opportunities to network with colleagues from across the business. Locally, there are opportunities to get involved in everything from competitive raft racing all around the country, Hiking practice on the local moorland in practice for the company charity challenge and the Site has a fully supported amateur football team. The local Gym offers heavily discounted sessions and throughout the year the Site gets involved with a wide range of community activities.
