  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is Business Admin support officer - I currently work within the Recruitment and Resourcing team within Cabinet Office HR. My daily tasks include administering recruitment campaigns, sitting on interview panels and allocating resources. Internally I interact daily with my line manager and other work colleagues within HR or the wider business. Exteral interactions include those with external bodies or external applicants.

  • Interpersonal skills Training opportunities including 'Writing to the Public,' and 'Briefings and Submissions' Civil Service Learning have many e-learning options

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy it. in regards to my job role I have a great team, and like the working culture. It has surpassed my expectations. In regards to the apprenticeship qualification work I have enjoyed the challenge but have found some of the administration rather limited.

  • Appreciation from my team and line manager. Internal recognition from my colleagues

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I believe that it is very well structured and there are clear pathways and units to work through. However I have not found it to be very organised in the delivery. We had to wait a very long time before we were assigned assessors and tutors. The supporting study days could be improved to become more worthwhile.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Good general support from my line manager. Good support from my NVQ assessor Good support from my HNC tutor. Mostly my assessor and tutor are happy to help with any queries and quick to respond.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Lots of support from my line manager and wider team. I have an assigned mentor who is always available should I ask for work. I was assigned a buddy who helped within the first couple months of employment to aid me with any induction issues.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Very good wage in comparison to my peers. However apprentices in my department is paid significantly less than other departments. Travel costs are the biggest strain on my budget due to my long commute (although this is small in comparison to renting in London) Socialising in London is expensive but I am good as budget control.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Volunteering opportunities to promote my apprenticeship scheme are vast - however they are very sort after so not always easily available. Opportunities outside of work are available if I desire them and if I have time for them.
