  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role changes every couple of months depending on which team I move into. Currently within my team I have been working on Security Feedback slides, questionnaires and creating insightful videos on Phishing.

  • I have developed my Technical skills on excel as the Job Role involves a lot of work on this software. I have also had trainings on communication skills which was highly helpful

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme as I get to move around through lots of departments, gaining an understanding of how each one functions and the daily activities they do.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I can see National Grid had organised a well structured programme despite Covid Restrictions. However (Through no fault of National Grid) the training provider gave incorrect dates for their training which has messed parts of it up.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Support is always available to you whenever you need it. There is a positive atmosphere at national grid that encourages you to reach out for support and support others when possible making you feel comfortable.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Can't comment on this yet, haven't had any training and have only just handed in the first part of my portfolio which hasn't been marked

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Again, hard to comment on. From the policy research I have done for my first project It has helped me recognise a lot of policies i might not of been aware of at first.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • From what I have heard there are lots of social activities and networking events at National Grid.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The culture at National Grid makes you feel comfortable whilst working which for someone who has never had a job before like myself has made transitioning into the world of work more comfortable.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to National Grid?
  • Just be yourself, it's not about trying to learn everything you about the company or being able to recite answers straight away.
