  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, both acquired new skills in terms of the analysis of companies from credit perspective based on the annual reports, estimating the creditworthiness of the borrowers, as well as from the equity perspective looking into the private deals, learning about the regulatory and legal complexities, the use of variety of financial instruments, etc.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I very much enjoy the program. There is a lot of time allocated to my development, in terms of training, certifications, etc., as well as the great mix of rotations, giving the taste of how it is like working in different parts of the business. Structured, with a lot of support provided by HR, mentors, managers, personal development managers, etc.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Great structure of the programme: 6 months rotations which enable both to learn and be thrown in the deep end of things, as well as actually adding value to the teams during rotations. At the same time, great deal of care is taken to ensure that graduates have enough time which is ring fenced to enhance the skills, get the CFA and training

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Great deal of support. As mentioned above, there is mentor, personal development manager, as well as support from HR, and in my rotations my managers and people in the wider teams have always been very helpful and supporting my growth, taking the extra time and effort to help me grow

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Great support from the training provider. Always prompt in their responses to the queries raised, always guidance provided ahead, during and after the training sessions, going the extra step to ensure that my development is a priority, and there are a number of points of contact to reach out to in case if any questions arise along the way

    9/10

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Very much so. The training is essential part of ensuring that I perform well in my role, that I am learning and growing along the way, as well as making me able to contribute effectively to the teams that I am part of during my rotations and hopefully once I roll off.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Not very much at this moment. We organised a few socials with the fellow graduates once the restrictions eased, meeting and socializing outside of work, however, as the situation hopefully improves going forward, there are a lot of plans to increase social and extra-curricular activities. For example, I have met with my team for a social recently as the restrictions eased

  • 9a. Would you recommend M&G to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Just great place to work, feel respected and valued at the workplace. The personal and professional development is a priority, and the teams are very supportive and friendly helping the newcomers to settle and realise their potential

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to M&G?
  • The biggest tip perhaps is to be proactive, take the responsibility, and make sure that genuine interest in the business is shown. Being yourself, and honest about your thoughts, opinions, and building relationships with people from across the business. The expectation is not that a newcomer should know everything, more it is that the newcomer should be energized and interested in what the team does, learning and contributing along the way
