  • I have meetings with stakeholders and colleagues, discussing future work, issues and requirements for projects. I make data science solutions for the company, applying techniques such as machine learning to solve problems. I perform presentations, often sharing the outcomes of technical projects with the relevant stakeholders.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills such as : Advanced programming skills (Python). Advanced machine learning and deep learning techniques. SQL programming skills. Cloud services skills such as AWS. Written and visual communication skills. Time-management and organizational soft skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • It couldn't get any better. My managers always map me to projects I find interesting, and allow me to work on problems with material impact. My colleagues, however senior they may be, are friendly and are great mentors for me.

  • It is well organised and structured. It allows me to do my job and also my studies without the two clashing.

  • I receive a great deal of support from them. My manager is always happy to check in and provide me the resources I need to do my job. There is a clear boundary between my job hours and my study hours.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • There are some useful skills such as writing and structuring essays. However, I feel as though the degree programme could be significantly improved.

  • Yes. There are many activities such as book clubs, hobby groups and sports teams.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • There is a ton of interesting and meaningful work to be done. The work culture is great, with people always helping each other to succeed, where learning is embraced and failure is considered a means of learning.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Roche?
  • Spend a good amount of time researching Roche. Try to find something very specific, and discuss what interests you about this thing. Make sure you have a good understanding (even if it's high-level) of the key skills and techniques for whatever job you are applying for.
