  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • day to day my job role includes talking to multiple customers and dealing with their individual queries to be able to help them with their policies. these things can range from doing a change of vehicle, adding breakdown cover, adding a driver or just as simple as changing a vehicle registration.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I've always been confident with talking to customers due to having multiple customer service jobs, but i feel like this job role has given me a extra boost to really help me just be able to talk to anybody. I like to think that i've just become naturally easy to talk to for customers.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my job role a lot, i like being able to help people with their queries and also dealing with the difficult queries to, to be able to give myself a challenge but also extend my knowledge for later when that issue does then arise later on and i can then deal with it without any help.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • the programme from when we first started i don't believe has been very well structured, we sometimes have our training time hours cancelled. Our trainer at the beginning told us we'd be taking the exam by november time and instead now it's due to be sat July/August, we've had system changes that have confused everyone, the whole babbingtons situation just seemed to have been a mess from the start but luckily now it's actually becoming a bit more structured

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer has been very good in the support i've been able to have during my time so far at DL, in times where i've needed my team leader and manager to be able to give me time off for appointments or moving of house they've always been able to provide me with these things.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We have monthly sessions to catch up on what we do reading through chapters of our book etc. I feel like i fell behind a little due to not having a session since end of Feb. The attitude towards supporting us - they are always willing, they never mind when you email or message, they're always willing to help.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • In all honesty, it doesn't help me in my day to day job role, i see both things as completely separate. Unfortunately i don't think reading from a book would help me to gain more knowledge of the products i deal with day to day within Direct line

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We have no extra-curricular activities to get involved in due to being permanent home workers and the current climate. We sometimes have the odd quiz night etc but there isn't a lot for us to do as we are not office based so it is hard for all our team to bond.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Direct Line to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would definitely recommend Direct Line to a friend, they are a brilliant company, look after their staff when they need it and the benefits you can receive are just brilliant. I see this job as the start of a long career within the company and hope to be here for many years.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Direct Line?
  • Be yourself. Make sure you're honest, when i had something that could've potentially affected my application and was honest it just helps to show you're trustworthy. The interviews were a breeze even though i was nervous, i was made to feel like i had nothing to worry about, so you just have to stay calm. The onboarding process is quite long winded, but once you're over the final hurdle it's all worth it.
