  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • i work in th new issues which is situated in operations. the new issues team primary looks at transaction and settlements whether UBS are the settlor or just part of the settlement. my team make sure all the documents are in place and the transaction settles on the right day.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • yes i have learnt new skills, this has been down by fitch learning whereby they set up online classes to teach specific skills. for example excel training. this has helped me gain nearly expert knowledge in using excel. they have also had an online lesson for client relationships which helped my understand how to communicate with clients.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • the programme is very good and well-structured, i also enjoy more as i am working from home which has helped my complete my exams quicker. the programme is also quite challenging which is good as you learn new things not only about the role but about yourself and your abilities

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • my programme is very well structured and organised. i have been given set study days and at the beginning of the programme i was sent a timetable of when all my exams would be and when all the online lessons would take place. i was also provided with the relevant documents and have monthly opportunities to ask for anymore support

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • i receive a great deal of support from my employer. they have made sure i can complete my exams and would pass them and if i failed enable me to any extra support i would need. they have also given me monthly one to one catch up and as well as quarterly group catch ups

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • my training provider has been exceptionally supportive. i have been sent amazing revision sessions just before my exams. they have promptly sent out revision material and helped me transition onto the next unit very quickly. they have allowed me to go at my own pace and complete the exams when i am ready

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • my qualification had helped me understand different aspects within my role, for example studying the UK financial regulations has helped me undertstand the rules and restrictions within the financial markets and that my team and UBS are subject to every day. i also am able to recognise key elements from my studying and apply them to my everyday tasks

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • yes there are many opportunities to get involved in extra curricular activities. for example i took part in a volunteer activity, debate mate, where some UBS apprentices had the opportunity to work with secondary school students to choose a topic and debate and come up with a presentation. UBS also have a lot of community available to join for networking events

  • Yes

  • UBS are a very supportive and generous employer. their flexibility during this pandemic has personally been the highlight for me as working from home is preferred for my lfifestyle. they have a very strong culture which is shown by all their employees and i work in a very supportive and friendly team.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to UBS?
  • if applying to UBS ensure you do your research of the firm and know the area you are applying to, and make sure you take interest in their culture and how they deliver their services because culture is expressed greatly everyday. also understand the importance of networking and having a range of skills and qualities
