  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role involves auditing other business financial statments and proferring an independent opinion on whether the financial statment provided by the management of the business is true and fair. Day to day basis I work on performing different test to verify different section within the accounts. I talk to clients and try to understand each business while i do my testing

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, I have learned a lot of new skills. I learned communication skills from interaction with colleagues and clients, financial analyst skills from analysing different figures within accounts. Excel skills as I perform some of testing using excel. Also as part of my job I am on a 2-3 year ACA training and I constantly learn different part of accounting.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy it a lot. Although to be very honest it is very tasking as I am working and also studying. So most of my weekends are spent revising and one need to be very meticulous with time management in other to still have a good social life. So yes, i enjoy it eventhough it is tasking but it is worth it in the long run

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is well organised. there is enough time for training and revision while working. There is also a good support system in place to assist while studying. Enough training during the onboarding and internally wiithin the organisation. And then signed up to BPP to support my training to become a chartered accountant

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Due to COVID 19, I was working remotely, my employer offered sitting gadgets to work comfortably from home. They also offered enough training so I can easily understand the job I am doing. On the job for each task, I was given I had enough support from supervisors, to line managers. They were all happy to help

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Due to covid 19, training went online but BPP gave me enough support to succeed in my exams. They assigned a mentor to me while studying and the mentor keeps track of my promess. They also had a lot of revision and forums where you can ask questions. BPP was always ready to help whenever I email them

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It makes me a better accountant. I can relate to my job better as most of my training are what I encounter or will encounter on the job. The training covers what is expected of a competent accountant and ensures that I am given enough resources and training to become one

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, many activities. diversity and inclusion group, volunteering, Becoming part of the office representative to speak to management. We are constantly organising after-work events to hang out and get to know each other in an informal setting. There are enough social activities and everyone is always ready to support and participate. The team spirit is a great one

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Best place to work, great team spirit. Everyone from the partner to immediate colleagues are friendly and easy to approach and ready to help. They also encourage you to speak up and take up different roles within the firm apart from your work. They have great staff bonuses and also lots of professional development training


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to RSM?
  • Apply early, donot focus on one office as we have offices all over the country and sometimes you work with other offices. Also, the application process is very straight forward, just take your time during the SJT and during video interview and assessment centre just be yourself and try stay composed and confident when replying to the questions. Also, research about the city and office you are applying to
