  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role consists of working together with a team, auditing a client in our given sector. Daily tasks vary everyday as there are always new challenges to overcome. I am in constant communication with my team.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed a lot of existing skills such as confidence and communication. I have also managed to pass a few certificate level ICAEW exams. My excel skills were instantly polished during my first week of working.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed my programme a lot. Despite working a lot of overtime during the busy season, the support provided to me helped me to stay on top of my tasks and enjoy working.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is structured well however organisation and receiving guidance and information can be hard at times. However, this should only be temporary due to the restrictions we face from COVID 19.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Everyone that I have been in contact with since my first day have supported me a lot during my time at BDO.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Support from my training provided has been decent. It has been harder to study from home during lockdown so I hope it gets better once we are allowed to study in person (face to face).

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The information I revise and learn for my exams has helped me understand the working world a lot more. I am able to apply my knowledge to various situations and conclude problems myself.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Currently it has been hard to get involved in such activities due to COVID 19. We have had a few online social events however I haven't managed to make any proper friends.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BDO to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would only ever recommend things to others if I have enjoyed them. My time at BDO so far has been great and I have learnt many various skills. The people I have met have been from different backgrounds which has taught me a lot in terms of perspective.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BDO?
  • Be positive and be yourself. Make sure to research BDO thoroughly. Aim to relate the job role to your personality and previous achievements.
