  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a training apprentice deputy and fully trained store assistant. I do everything from work the deliveries (ambient, fresh, short life, long life) to a few deputy duties such as checking the dates, scanning off waste and doing the availability to name a few.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes i have developed a very good string work ethic especially for my age and have become more confident in working on my own and trusting my own initiative.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy coming into work, for me it is much better than college as i learn a lot more and feel like i’m working towards something a lot more tangible.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It’s well organised and has a good structure but if i were to suggest any area for improvement i would say more communication between the apprenticeship provider and the business.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • A lot of support as the build the foundation and trust that any issues you go to them with will have the best solution/response with no judgment or anything negative. All feedback is constructive too.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • A lot of support especially in the sense that i can ask any question from the structure of the scheme to extra support.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It gives/allows more confidence aswell as retains up to date retail knowledge along side my ELP’s and policies i have been through during work.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes however due to lockdowns and the current state of the UK they are fairly limited but there are still things to get involved in.

  • Yes

  • Best working years of my life, you meet some great people and learn a lot so skills and gain confidence.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aldi?
  • It gets better the more involved you get with the job and the more you try and learn.
