Providing first-line support to staff and students, creating/management of user accounts, maintenance of client PCs, servers and network stacks.
The bulk has been learned on the job, being Active Directory management, learning Hyper-V for virtual machines along with the courses I have been put on. Thus far, I haven't completed any courses due to breaks in learning due to COVID.
This is an arbitrary question. I enjoy my job. As for the programme and the apprenticeship, it has caused that much headache and frustration I have been on the verge of stepping away from it due to the unnecessary stress the programme causes. Job - 4/5 Programme - 1/5
In direct answer, the structure itself *should* be easy to get into, though the organisational skills of GKA are abhorrent and I have been through multiple tutors. It took ~6 months to settle with my third tutor before even beginning my actual apprenticeship and now I have been changed again.
Maximum support without a fault.
Based on my previous tutor, I would say a good degree as was always approachable and easy to contact. I cannot say the same as of yet as I am still waiting to have my review with my new tutor. Previous - 5 stars Current - 0 (due to review of yet)
Unable to answer fully as I have not completed any of my actual qualifications yet, as I was initially on an L4 and put to an L3 at the beginning of this academic year. Due to COVID, I was on a break in learning for 6 months due to schools being shut. The only thing I have been able to put into practice of yet from the actual courses I have studied has been the termination of RJ-45 connections. Aside from this, I have learned near everything else on the job before I have studied it properly. In the end, however, I'd say that the qualifications should help no-end of doubt.
There are, however, I work 2 jobs. Socialising is but a fantasy. Beyond that, the only event we typically go to as an IT team is BETT, however, due to COVID this hasn't been the case for this year.
No
The question is too open-ended - which company? If the question was in regards to Chalfonts Community College, it would be an emphatic 'Yes' as it is a good school to work in and the staff on the most part are good to work with. In regards to GKA, my answer is a rather firm 'No' from the rooftops. The organisational structure is constantly chopping and changing, the learners are messed around being shafted from tutor to tutor, there are pointless 'training events' they try to send you on that revolve around networking - when this is often taught on the job anyway. I had seen bad reviews before regarding GKA on platforms such as LinkedIn, and I regret every moment of allowing them a chance. Certainly never again.
Chalfonts - Check the school website for any positions, they are always listed. The Learning Support team is the most in-demand team and is always in need of additional support, but as an IT Support tech running into classrooms with an LSA, I can personally see how rewarding the job itself is. If you are looking at more of a teaching role, a number of trainee teachers come through via universities and the school is known to take on teachers directly after an assessment period. GKA - Don't. Save yourself the hassle and save yourself the headache.
