  • Working within an advisory department, working on a range of engagements such as internal audits, risk assurance, external audit, corporate governance reviews.

  • I do not enjoy the program.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Not well structured or organised - the professional qualifications team have been hopeless. My individual department have been okay but there has been a distinct lack of structure in terms of the experience we are getting.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive quite a lot of support from my manager and the HR team have been helpful in putting in place extra support if needed

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • A lot of support is received from training provider. I have no criticisms of the training provider, except that they can be slow to sent out study materials.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I don't think it has made a huge difference as the qualification (ACA) is not related to the work I do on a day to day basis. However, it will be useful for future roles that are more accounting based.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there are extra-curriculars. I have gotten involved in wellbeing within the team and social activities. Due to COVID, somewhat limited in terms of sports teams.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BDO to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Although I have not had the best experience at BDO, I think it is a great place to start your career and get the professional qualification.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BDO?
  • Look carefully into the specific department you are applying to and make sure you have an understanding of what they do on a day to day basis and are interested in it as this is the department you will be in for the duration of your apprenticeship.
