  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis I try to get involved as much as I can with the daily work that the SME's in my team will be doing however because I don't have the required skills a lot of the time I cant get involved in these tasks, So currently I'm doing a lot of learning with tasks that my colleagues have given me so that I can hopefully learn some valuable skills that I can then later apply to a working environment.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a few technical skills that I've learnt from my team and the tasks that they have given me however the program did promise that I would be able to attend formal training related to my job so that I can get up to speed quicker and not have to keep distracting my colleagues asking for help with a lot of the tasks that I have done. The friction from the program to provide funding for formal training hasn’t been great, I've now more than 4 months into the programme and have only just secured funding for one formal training session of which I need to go on of which I need to go on about 3 and by the sounds of it the other training I need to attend is going to be funded by my department. I don't know why there is so much friction as without this training I'm barely operational and it defeats the whole point of recruiting apprentices into the bank.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the work I'm doing, I like the team and my colleagues are really helpful in helping me with any problems or issues that I'm having.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Lloyds Banking Group?
  • Not very, as like stated above the amount of friction with the funding for training just to become operational within my team seems like its counter productive

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • From my experience so far I would say not at all, To start with I didn’t know what location I was working in until 3 days before I was due to start neither did my team know that if I was going to be at their location or a different one and they only found out that they even were getting an apprentice a week before I started. We didn't get asked at all which teams or specific areas that we would like to be placed in you got placed in an area they thought you would be best suited. Like stated several times above the training situation isn’t good and doesn't help me fit into the actual roll that I've been placed in because I don't have the necessary skills to progress and learn some of the more complex systems that we use.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • All in all the training is good the tutors are really good and knowledgeable however the organisation of the training doesn't seem great as for example a lot of the learning content they provide us is in video form but half of the apprentices can't watch the videos because we are using old laptops that don’t support that format that they are using.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my manager as she helps to sort out any issues or queries that I have.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary I receive I feel is really good in comparison to the typical apprentice wage which I saw when I was originally looking for jobs.

  • There is plenty of opportunities for voluntary work, events etc.

  • 9. Would you recommend Lloyds Banking Group to a friend?
  • No


  • 9b. Why?
  • The only reasons I say no is because the training situation for me personally has had so much friction to even just get myself operational within my team, however don't get me wrong they are a lot of great factors about the program Lloyds offer but this one outweighs for me

  • Give relevant and real world examples relating to companyh values
