  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I am thoroughly enjoying learning more about Business Management. I have been able to implement management techniques I have been taught on my course and rolled out to our operational unit. For example problem solving skills and methods to create a more robust action plan for projects. It has helped me understand the focus areas for a business and why we do what we do. I found also throughout my course that Skanska just about carries out every single method etc that I am learning on my course which I was really impressed about.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Although it is extremely hard work to juggle work, family and studying I know it will all be worth it in the end. I used to doubt myself quite a bit however doing this course has actually made me realise that im on the right path which has built my confidence and implementing the different techniques within the team has made work life better. So yes I am really enjoying it.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I was actually surprised at how structured it was. The guidance and systems used are excellent. Yes there's the odd hiccup however it is always resolved extremely quickly. The use of Blackboard and Teams has been fantastic especially during the pandemic where most people are having to work remotely. The courses are planned out in advance in a clear and concise manner, everything is explained properly and if you are ever looking for help you can contact the lecturer or your personal mentor.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I am provided with a day a week to attend my courses. The help and guidance I have received from my line manager has been great, he has continually helped and advised me on any issues I may be having. I have been given all the right tools to carry out my courses and I know for a fact that if I needed any additional help I would get it.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Our organisation provides all our employees with 1 day per year to help out in the community we live and work, we are continually volunteering to help out and it is really enjoyable. We have Living our Values week and Diversity Inclusion Week where we carry out fun activities whilst learning at the same time. Before the pandemic we always had nights out to enjoy ourselves. We organise quiz nights/bingo/race nights etc. We have many communication channels set up which includes office staff and mobile teams where we can share ideas, updates etc so we are always in contact with one another.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Skanska to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Skanska are an amazing company to work with, they really focus on their people and health and wellbeing, especially during the pandemic. They created a Hub of information and exercise classes to motivate all their employees, the leadership team continually provided updates nobody was forgotten about, they have also introduced flex-it to help employees manage their workload and family life. They have so many benefits to share with their employees. What I really enjoy about Skanska is that your opinion matters, it doesn't matter what position you are in you will always be listened too.
