  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work within people services across two teams, Health Roster and The Bank Team. For Health Roster I answer incoming emails and queries as well as daily tasks which help the overall team. With The Bank Team I answer certain queries, I also code invoices and help to give out information to the new starters joining the bank team.

  • I have developed multiple skills within my job role. I have learnt how to use excel in multiple different ways and create charts and work out data into a spreadsheet as well as multiple systems and technology . My communication over the phone to staff members has developed and I have become more confident. I would say I have also become more organised and able to use my time effectively. I have been involved in multiple training courses within my job role and the apprentice.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I would say that it has been organised and structured considering the situation of Covid-19 and the only slight issue would be communication but because everything is online at the current time I completely understand and know that everyone has been trying their best given the circumstances. The introduction to the course was clear and i was excited to get started, the training has kept me on my toes and expanded my knowledge and i have has access to the support i need from an amazing team and have been treated fairly when given tasks.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have received a great amount of support from my tutor. They have helped whenever i needed by easily sending an email and have set up meetings whenever i have needed so. They have also set up monthly meetings to help support and update me on my progress. They have guided me whenever i felt stuck on something or did not understand. I also really enjoy my apprenticeship and am happy with the support from my tutor.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel it has helped me massively with my job and each unit I have completed has helped my knowledge and be more aware with daily tasks I complete daily. The things i have learnt so far i have used in my job role and has helped me considering i had not come from an admin job previously so i had not so much experience. From coming towards the end of my apprenticeship i 100% feel i know about my job role because of my apprenticeship.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • When I'm not working i walk my dog, go to the gym and i also play games to stay occupied. Recently there have been sport activities over zoom or teams as well as meetings held around specific topics. I also have an event/competition coming up where you are in teams and it totals your steps up to see who comes out on top. I know in different teams they will also hold different events and activities.

  • 9a. Would you recommend NHS to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Its such a great organisation to work for it has given me a opportunity to not only have a job but to get a qualification too. I have learnt so much in such a small amount of time as well as being in an amazing team who are so supportive. I'm super proud to be a part of an organisation especially with Covid-19 and how everyone can pull together to get through it.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS?
  • I found applying to be really simple and not complicated. I advise keeping your CV clear and simple and writing a small cover letter or description on why this job would fit you perfectly and how it would benefit you. Depending on the job my application process had questions too i was honest and kept my answers simple and not huge amounts of writing. In the interview i felt super comfortable and was honest i also had done my research as i really wanted the job/career and once you explain this the employer will appreciate that you have taken you time to have done this. The induction day was really welcoming and reassuring. I also feel i have a huge amount of opportunities now and have enough experience to expand my career.
