  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role heavily involves the use of excel to create and analyse reports for distribution to stakeholders within the business. These reports are made up of data from third party providers and the banks with which our money is held. It is important our reports are accurate to ensure stakeholders can monitor the movement of cash and stock from their fund.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • My main areas of learning have been computer and people skills. I have become far more comfortable in the use of Excel and Outlook as the majority of my day revolves around them. There is however still lots to learn. I have also learned how to interact with colleagues in a business environment, even if this has been virtually.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy being given the opportunity to work in a professional environment with people of a similar mindset and the company has put a lot of effort into training and development which i have found to be beneficial. It is difficult to say how the programme may have varied if we had been in the office.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Well structured with a good introduction at the beginning of the programme. Everyone has been more than willing to take time to teach me about the department and industry. My manager has been very supportive as have others throughout the business. There are still regular invites to training events designed to make me a more valuable employee.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My manager and colleagues have always had time to teach me and help out when required. This has obviously been a different challenge with remote working. I have been introduced to colleagues from different parts of the business which has allowed me to build my network and also learn about different parts of the business.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive regular catch ups to discuss my progress. I can also reach out anytime for support. A lot of the activities are evidence based around my day to day role. I complete activities as and when i can based around my role. All evidence is submitted online. The resources are well presented for ease of learning.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification has made me research and understand topics more thoroughly as in order to complete the activity i need to build up an understanding of the topic. It has also made me focus on activities relevant to my role. This allows me to hit the ground running in my day job.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are several networks i follow. They have run virtual events such as meet and greets with senior management and even a brownie bake along. My understanding is that they would usually run events in the office or alongside charities. This is a great way yo meet and get to know others throughout the business.
