  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role can vary quite a lot on a day to day basis because I work in different disciplines like tissue, molecular, blood gas and chemistry. Also I travel to different sites around Scotland some for example are Kirkcaldy, Hairmyers, Crosshouse, Wishaw and Nuffield. I will go onto site and observe what the engineer is doing that day, which can vary.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills while working with Roche for example being in communication with the customer while a fault is being looked at by the engineer. Also being able to adapt to new working environments on a daily basis really helps build up your confidence in fault finding.

  • I am extremely pleased that I am able to be apart of this programme because it truly helps me to develop in areas, which are not only helpfully to Roche but also help me improve in complex areas as the structure is there to build the basic knowledge up at the start so you feel confident enough that you can carry out complex tasks later on.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider is New College Lanarkshire and it is located in Motherwell. They are more than helpful with any questions I may have about what is being learned on the course and it all loops back with what I am observing on site. I know this information I am learning from the college the now will stay very useful when I become qualified.
