Associate Review

I am currently situated in Private London service line under the Audit & Assurance department. My daily work is mainly help those senior members in auditing the financial statements for our client. This is also a client facing type of work which allows me to get exposure to clients very often.

I've attended a lot of calls this year, with both my members and my clients. My communication skills have been significantly improved, both in verbal and in written. I've also been assigned to several works at the same time, my project management skills definitely have been put into test.

I would say 10 out of 10. It is great to have a mixture of studying and working throughout the year, which have helped to keep me energised. Everyone in my company is also quite supportive and willing to address any concerns I have got, even the question is not work-related.

I think it is well organised. I am assigned to the intensive way of this apprenticeship, in which we have to sit the exam right after we finished our study in college. I think such an option works quite well for me personally, but I do recognise some of my colleagues are struggling with this type of study route.

I have received a wide range of support from my employer. Each of us are assigned to an early career coach, who is delegated to help us to go through any requirements other than passing the exams in order to quality for a charted account. My ECC is quite approachable and definitely make my apprenticeship much smoother.

The training provided we have is the Kaplan. We have been assigned to a coach from Kaplan who meet with us regularly. She helped us to review the progress we have made from time to time, identifying any strength we have obtained and any areas we need to improve in the future.

In order to obtain the Charted Accountant qualification, both technical knowledge and working experiences are required. In order to pass all the exams required, we have to study a series of courses which primarily focus in the accounting area. This helped me to get myself ready for any accounting concepts we may encounter through out our daily work.

Yes, I have assigned to a community set up in our company and I have volunteered to join the project maanagement office team in the community as a data management member. I will be mainly conducting analysis on the surveys which are completed by the participants at the end of every activity.

The overall working vibe are quite nice. Everyone seems to be veryy friendly and supportive. Given the stressful pandemic we are currently experiencing, I can tell that the company does not only care about the work you have done but also the personal wellbeing, which I personally value a lot.

My main tip would be applying as early as you can because Deloitte recruits through a rounding basis, which means first come first serve. Also, do some research in the vacancy you applied to, be familiar with the job responsibilities and have an idea what you should expect when you get on board.
