  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • The main duties of my role are to assist in the running of the clinic, chaperoning Nurses and Doctors with various procedures such a coil fittings and examinations, whilst maintaining dignity and providing non-judgemental support to patients. I also have to complete daily admin tasks such as filing notes and answering phones.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since working in health and social care for over 4 years, I have developed my skills considerably. I have been trained in taking blood samples. I have become more more confident when assisting patients. I have also become more confident in assisting nurses and doctors with procedures, such as coil fittings

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have only been working on this programme for a short time, everyone is extremely helpful and easy to talk to, I am learning to manage my study time better to make sure I meet my deadlines, however I know if I ever need help them its easy to obtain

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The is very well organised, I am currently doing most of my learning sessions virtually, however I am provided with lots of resources to be able to complete my work sufficiently. I have regular meetings to discuss my progress and have scheduled study days to complete my work outside of my working hours.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Since starting my course in January, I have had regular meetings about my progress with my manager and if I need any extra support. I have been give two regular study days a month which I can work around my annual leave and depending on how the clinic is running.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have a virtual workshop once a month as a group with my tutor and other people on my course, this also gives us the opportunity to ask any questions or queries, I also hear regularly from my tutor so this gives my lost of support if I need it.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I have only recently started my course in January, I have already completed some work projects since then, I am aware I will have more difficult projects throughout my course which will help to enhance my knowledge, further my skills and make me more confident when working in the clinic environment

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Due to the current covid pandemic there is currently no extra curricular activities provided for us at work but once the current situation with the covid pandemic has resolved hopefully there will be more opportunities for us to do extra curricular activities, however I know that our trust does provide these.

  • 9a. Would you recommend NHS to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I definitely would recommend the nhs trust as a workplace for friends and family due to the job stability it provides and the flexibility you are given, it also gives you the opportunity progress within your job role or to other job roles as well as provides with job satisfaction.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS?
  • The advice I would give to those that are thinking of applying to work in the NHS would be to do some research on the job role you are applying for and always ensure that you spend enough time on your application and always be honest on the application form
