  • I am a mechanical fitter and currently working on a submarine which involves removing and fitting pipes and other components within the submarine

  • I have learnt many new skills coming into my first job and my first insight of engineering

  • I do enjoy quite a lot of the work but some of it can be tedious and not so engaging

  • We moved around 4 sections every 3 months and 3 section every 4 motnhs in the second and third year. It is mainly well structured

  • I have struggled with mental health and have received some extent of support

  • Our apprenticeship manager provides us help with our coursework when marking it and if we have any struggles.

  • It gives me a general understanding of the components I’m working on and what they do

  • Yes

  • It’s a job for life on a good wage, learning a trade and has good opportunity for promotion and growth


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Babcock?
  • Ask lots of questions get knuckled down on the course work not letting it get on top of you as it is a hard hole to get out of
